Ascension of the Lord
During the Easter Season
The ecclesiastical provinces of Boston, Hartford, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, and Omaha have retained the celebration of the Ascension of the Lord on the proper Thursday, which is forty days after Easter Sunday, while all other provinces, including the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, have permanently transferred the solemnity to the Seventh Sunday of Easter, which in 2012 will be on Sunday, May 20.
